WEEK 11 | DECEMBER 29-January 4

Praying Is Giving Thanks to God

Giving thanks to God in our praying should be a frequent expression of our love. Even in times of crises or facing unbelievable circumstances, we can still pray prayers of thanksgiving. When the angel told Mary she would become pregnant with the Savior of the world, she responded “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.” Mary recognized the great perfect love of the Lord toward her as the angel told her in Luke 1. Our prayers of thanksgiving recognize and restate God’s goodness to us—His children!

Psalm 100:4

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Dear Lord, help us to recognize Your perfect love toward us. Help us to receive Your will into our lives, the lives of our families, friends, and even our churches when we don’t understand. Lord, we thank You for Your unlimited love for all of us. Knowing all from the beginning to the end, You see and know all and are full of mercy and grace. Turn our eyes off our situations and circumstances. Turn our eyes toward You, Lord, in and through all things. We thank You, Father, for Your goodness.
